There is always a price for freedom...

Image the life of the wild mustangs…free to run across the prairie lands of the West…plenty of space…plenty of grazing…plenty of freedom…until the day you are rounded up, transported to corrals, sold to whoever will bid…

How frightening for these mustangs…and how sad the life that many of them have at the hands of those who only want something to “break” and ride…

Please meet our mustang mare…21 years of age…down but not out.

When we received the call about her, she had foundered on both front feet…lame and at the mercy of her owner…who was going to shoot her…

Another person took her but was not willing to pay the price of her care…

Needless to say, I received the call…and plans went immediately into action. She is now being fostered by Lisa McAlister, a farrier whose heart could not let our mustang down. When she arrived at Lisa’s place, MM (Mustang mare) was thin, could barely move, and seemed to be on her way down. But not this girl…she has responded to Lisa’s loving care and proven many times her will to live is still strong. On days when her legs tell her that life is good, she trots away from Lisa with head held high…as if to say, catch me if you can!

I am determined her last days will be good ones…she deserves it…I am sure if she could talk, we would cry at her stories…we can only guess at what she has been through in 21 years…

Here is what I need…sponsors for her care. She will require several medications to ease her arthritis…special care for her hooves…Lisa McAlister and Mary Keith Wiggins spend hours caring for her…they are putting in the time…let us help as well.

Can a school club…a church group…a business…all of you! Step forward and commit a monthly amount for her care? If we truly want to save the animals who serve us and love us, now is the time. This will be our first venture into a VIRTUAL ADOPTION PROGRAM…we will have photos of her on our website and the groups that sponsor her…updates of her progress as well…

Mustang Mare needs our help…let’s not let her down
